Names and faces, times and places -- these all change. Human nature does not.

Every so often, actually very often lately, I hear people ragging on the Leather community and those within who do not met the plaintiff individuals' expectations. Sometimes we place standards higher than they need be, or place certain people and/or groups on a pedestal so high that they are doomed to fail the expectations that accompany such lofty positions. I know that I did this in the early days of The Leather Journal and got burned by the same when I hit a tough snag in the mid 1990s.
