Leroux: How long-term care became an uplifting experience
By Paul Leroux for the Ottawa Citizen
Little did I know that my best days lay, not behind, but ahead of me. I was about to embark on an incredible journey of personal growth and spiritual rebirth – to be, not only lifted, but uplifted....Within moments of my arrival, a resident made me feel that I belonged. She has since become my table mate and my best friend....I have witnessed tender moments between spouses, happy occasions uniting families. My own husband and I have seen our relationship grow deeper and stronger. Paul is the partner of past titleholder Alex Wisniowski. Should LGBT people be allow to teach in schools?
While 6% of the respondents (5% of the women and 8% of the men) admitted they weren't sure how they felt, and 6% (4% of the women and 9% of the men) said they did not think gays and lesbians be allowed to teach, an overwhelming 87% (91% of the women and 83% of the men) believe that homosexual teachers should be allowed to teach in schools. Although federal law protects people from workplace discrimination based on race, national origin, religion, sex, age and disability, the law fails to specifically address sexual orientation. In the recent past, more than 20 states and Washington, DC, have prohibited sexual orientation discrimination in private employment, but LGBT teachers still face discrimination regarding their sexuality in the public sector....The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices. For more information about Adam & Eve go to https://www.adameve.com

Photo - Terry LeGrand, Born To Raise Hell, Dies - 1939-2018
by Jack Fritscher

Iconic pioneer filmmaker Terry LeGrand (1939-2018) passed at his Hollywood home on April 18. As Marathon Films, Terry produced the great leather classic film “Born to Raise Hell” (1975) directed by Roger Earl starring their discovery, Val Martin, whom “Drummer” editor Jeanne Barney featured on the cover of “Drummer” issue 3. At the infamous LAPD raid of the “Drummer Slave Auction” on April 11, 1976, the intimate friends Terry, Roger, Jeanne, and Val were among the 42 persons arrested. Terry and Roger were longtime friends not lovers, and Terry was the sole owner of Marathon Films. As a producer, Terry was relentless and remarkable. In anti-gay LA, he managed to shoot “Born” in outdoor spaces and at the old Truck Stop bar out in the San Fernando Valley. He and Roger created more than thirty erotic films, most of them leather, and all of them popular. Judge Strikes Down Sodomy Law in Trinidad and Tobago
By Rashima Kwatra for OutRight Action International
On April 12, Judge Devindra Rampersad of the High Court of Trinidad and Tobago has ruled that Sections 13 and 16 of the Sexual Offenses Act are unconstitutional as applied to adult consensual acts, a motion that stands to decriminalize homosexuality in the country. A final judgement and exactly what happens to these laws will be made in July. A lawsuit to challenge the colonial-era sodomy laws was filed in February 2017 by Jason Jones against the attorney general of Trinidad and Tobago. Jones, an LGBTIQ activist in both his native country of Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom, claimed that these two sections violate his right to privacy and freedom of expression. https://www.outrightinternational.org/content/judge-rules-buggery-law-unconstitutional-trinidad-and-tobago
