LA Leather Pride - Release! March 19-26

LA Leather Pride - Release! will be held March 19-26 at several venues all over Los Angeles. The main event will be the Mr. LA Leather 2023 contest on Saturday night, March 25. Other events include Assembly on Friday night, the Off Sunset Festival on Sunday afternoon, play parties, a meet and greet, ride-in with all Mr. LA Leather contestants, a classical music concert and other activities.

LA Pride coordinator Gabriel Green said of the weekend's theme, "We live in a post pandemic world that is fraught with anxiety, worries and fears. While are  we are now free to move about the world, there is a cloud of uncertainty that looms over wondering what will tomorrow bring. For these reasons we chose the theme of Release! for this year’s Los Angeles Leather Pride. Release has two meanings: to enable to escape confinement and to allow something to move, act or flow freely.
This year, we want to give you the space to escape all the stresses of life that cause anxiety, worry and fear. We want to give you the opportunities to be free to express your kinks, desires and passion in ways that allow you to be uninhibited with one another.
In our community we often talk about consent in terms giving or getting permission from another person for the pleasures we seek. But it’s equally important, now more than ever, to give ourselves the permission to be happy, to be vulnerable and to be loved.
The future is always uncertain, but the now is what you make it. Make the now yours and give yourselves the Release you need to be truly happy."

International Mr. Bootblack 2023 contest canceled

"To The Global Leather and Fetish Community:

First, and most importantly, everyone who participates in any aspect of IML-IMBB weekend should never feel discriminated against, excluded, or diminished. The IML-IMBB organization has and will continue to be inclusive with our contestants, volunteer staff and guests.

For our past and current IML-IMBB titleholders who have experienced issues out in the community, we have tasked several board members with contacting you directly to share your stories, unfiltered and with the singular purpose to learn of your experiences, especially those related to transphobia and discrimination.

But we also publicly avow our absolute assurance we are stepping up to do the necessary work to effect positive change and will work harder within the confines of IML-IMBB and make clear to those outside of the organization that inclusionary standards must apply to all of our titleholders without exception.

Now, due to the unexpected resignation of the International Mr. Bootblack Coordinator and IMBB staff, The Renslow Charitable Foundation is announcing the cancellation of The IMBB contest for 2023. We will take this year to thoroughly examine the evolution of the contest and solicit community input and interest......." The letter to the community continues at

The next chapter of Sanctuary started January 18, 2023

By Mistress Cyan

Yes, I am so happy to say that the next chapter in the Sanctuary Legacy starts on January 18, 2023! That is the official closing date of escrow and the date that we can then take possession of the building. We are really excited to be only four weeks away from getting started again and to all of you who have reached out and volunteered to help, thank you!

We have set up a short form for everyone who would like to help so we can efficiently schedule volunteers and know what each person’s interest and expertise is. We can use help from those who have a specific skill or specialty, such as construction, plumbing, and electrical, as well as those who want to donate time to help unload the pods, paint, do upholstery, etc. If you would lie to help us, please click on the following link and let us know. We are hoping to get everything built out and be ready to re-open to the public early February.

Here is the link to volunteer https://forms.office.com/r/9Ax4b7dSF1

For those of you who would like to help out financially, we have set up a fundraising campaign. Since we moved out of the LAX site on August 1st, we have been paying rent on nine pods and storage, as well as insurance, phone, etc., and expect to incur a heavy cost getting the building ready to open for events. For those who are interest in making a donation, here is the link https://www.paypal.com/donate?campaign_id=34J23HHMJGBF4

NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response

By Susan Wright

NCSF’s Incident Reporting & Response received 51 reports and requests for assistance from individuals, groups and businesses in October, November and December, 2022. That is a 36% decrease compared to the 79 reports NCSF received in the 3rd Quarter of 2022, and is exactly the same as the 51 reports NCSF received in the Second Quarter of 2022.

NCSF maintains the confidentiality of those who come to us for help, however we balance that need with the need to report the services we are providing and to provide the community with a record of where the need is the greatest. To see a breakdown of the cases the NCSF dealt with in the 4th Quarter of 2022 check out

FMSD - February Discussion

FMSD (Fetish Men San Diego) will present their February Discussion on Wednesday, February 8th, from 7-9 PM. This month FMSD will be hearing from a part of the community that is often overlooked and underrepresented. Trans masculine people have always been part of Leather and queer culture, yet their experiences are not celebrated despite navigating the same spaces as queer cis men. FMSD will be hearing from four trans-masculine people about their journeys in Leather followed by a Q&A. Many thanks go to Sanjay for bringing this idea forward and organizing the panelists. The hope for this discussion is to help break the stigma around trans men being intimate in Leather spaces, address general misconceptions, and for folks to come away with some concrete steps to help create spaces that are inclusive for all forms of masculinity.

This event will be held indoors. Proof of COVID vaccination, or recent test, is required. RSVP with your first and last name to: SignMeUpForEvent @ GMail. FMSD invites you to include questions you have for our panelists in your RSVP email as well. The panelists will address a mix of these “advance” questions as well as ones from the audience so bring an open mind to be ready to learn.

Marcus Anthony aka Pup Mohawk passes

By Rocko Cook

On December 19th, 2022, Marcus Anthony aka Pup Mohawk passed away. The Phoenix boys of Leather, Arizona Pups and Handlers, his partner Patrick aka Pup Rex, his biological and chosen families, and his friends deeply mourn the loss of this extraordinary person, boy, and pup. Marcus was an exemplary leader of shenanigans and a role model for living life to its fullest and embracing what truly make us happy at our core. Pup Mohawk was an extraordinarily bright light who enjoyed sharing his laughter and his love, which he often did with his brilliant, coy smile and infectious ARFs. While he was blithely unaware of the level of impact he had on other folx, he often helped to change those around him by encouraging them to be the very fullest versions of themselves. Marcus was employed by Arizona State University for more than 20 years and was a gamer of the highest order (especially Zelda and Smash Bros). As a past President of the Phoenix boys of Leather, Co-Founder of the Arizona Pups and Handlers and was Imperial Court of Arizona Jester for Life to Reign Seven, Marcus leaves behind a stronger community and brotherhood of friends, which are grateful for being able to share some of their journeys alongside him. We will forever have a Mohawk shaped hole in our hearts as we howl a final awooo to someone who meant so very much to us. We love you, puppy. A Celebration of Life along with a slideshow of pictures can be found on The Phoenix boys of Leather Facebook Page and at

He was the owner of The Divine Concourse of Spiritual Awakenings and of The Radford Players, an ensemble made up of the most highly professional musicians in the Los Angeles area.

A favorite quote was from Anne Frank, "In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." A service will be announced soon.
