12 Days of Christmas event to take an Intermission

By Rik Newton-Treadway

The Magic of 12 Days is in its people. It’s in the energy between the performers and audience, staff and attendees, and it is felt among everyone who walks through the doors. The reality of performing to a camera in the middle of an empty auditorium would be like a dress rehearsal where performers can’t get the love, joy, and energy of a live audience, and where the audience can’t embrace them or egg them on.

This left us feeling empty. We want to direct that energy towards that time and place where we can all be together and feel that love and energy together again.

So, after much deliberation, Hooker and Boys has made the difficult decision to cancel our planned 2021 “Live, Yet Virtual” 12 Days of Christmas event. Given the current state of the pandemic, and the fatigue we are all experiencing from it, we could not in good conscience stage an event which may endanger the health and well-being of our performers and crew.

We want to thank everyone who provided feedback on this decision, and for your continued love and support of our annual event. We are humbled, as always, by your continued support.

SF Catalyst transitioning to new ownership

In October, 2021, the San Francisco Bay Area Leather Alliance voted to approve a proposal to transition SF Catalyst to new ownership and oversight. The goal is to complete the transition by the end of 2021.

SF Catalyst is a community-run non-profit educational and social space, located in the South of Market neighborhood. It serves the San Francisco bay area Leather, kink, and fetish communities.

The SF Catalyst location has been a sex positive community space for over a decade. Under the name “Alchemy,” it operated as a private rental space for several years before being taken over by the SF Bay Area Leather Alliance in 2016. Renamed “SF Catalyst,” the space hosted a wide range of events overseen by the Alliance. In 2020, the Alliance approved an expansion into an adjoining space, dramatically increasing the available square footage and improving accessibility.

The Transform 1060 team includes community members who have been actively involved in the operation of the space for several years, as well as engaged stakeholders from local bay kink/leather/fetish communities.

Bidders can place as many tickets as they want in a particular item’s paper sack,
increasing their chances of winning the item. Following our party, do not feel rushed out the door – there will be a live drag show, and you’re all welcome to stay and enjoy the fun.
