The day has arrived - the Farmboy Kitchen, dream of Hunter Long Fox and Charlie Matula of Eagle LA and Off Sunset Festival fame, is open.
Located at 1050 Vine Street, Hollywood, CA 90038, the fare includes shaved prime rib au jus sandwiches, chicken, an amazing chili, salads, soups, pastries and some wicked sides among other delicacies. The beets and feta competes with their potato salad for best side dish.
Farmboy is open 11 AM - 3 PM, Monday through Saturday, for lunch and will soon be open for dinner. Phone (323) 848-4790.
The Leather Journal attended two private openings a couple of weeks ago and found the staff to be great. It is unique in design and is at a popular intersection on the Southeast section of Vine Street and Santa Monica Blvd. Parking entrance is on Vine Street.
There is a huge patio as well as nice tables inside. This is not the standard mini-mall restaurant. The food is high-end, but the prices are not. The aforementioned shaved prime rib au jus sandwich is $14. The chili is chunks of beef, not hamburger and there is a lot of it at $4.50 and $9 large.
The Leather community has been waiting for its own eatery and now there is one located halfway between Silver Lake and West Hollywood. Farmboy Kitchen is open mainstream, but Leatherfolk own it and they welcome the Leather community. While open to the general public and street traffic, maybe Farmboy Kitchen will fill the void left by the closing of the French Quarter in West Hollywood last summer.
