LUCofLV - Leather and Giving Back

By December 19, 2016

By Sydistic

'Tis the season of giving. The Christmas holiday is a time of family and of friends. It is also a time giving and helping out those in need. This has always been a fundamental foundation of Leather Uniform Club of Las Vegas (LUCofLV) since its founding in 1998 and today it still is. Yes LUCofLV does raunchy things, sexy things, I’m going to be telling this story twenty-years-later things, but that is not the only thing that the club is all about. At the end of the day the members are human and it’s that human side that is often times driven to help others. For whatever the individual reasons are members of LUCofLV have a want and/or need to help out in the local community.

LUCofLV puts on fundraisers throughout the year to raise money that goes towards buying Christmas presents to benefit Saint Therese Center HIV Outreach. One of the yearly events they hold to fund raise is a BDSM prom and this year they also participated in a club street fair at Charlie’s Las Vegas that helped the club raise money for their end of the year present shopping trip.

This year members of LUCofLV descended on Wal Mart to purchase Christmas presents for Saint Therese, but with a particular group in mind, teens. When asked why the group focused their efforts on teens Sir Keevee Vice President of LUCofLV stated that they are the forgotten ones, no one thinks about teens and pre-teens because they are so focused on infants and toddlers that they are barely an afterthought. So LUCofLV decided to do something about it.

LUCofLV picked their target for shopping and converged. Everyone got a good chuckle in thinking about the cashier’s reaction when the group went to check out. Members broke up into groups with a budget per kart and began pillaging (shopping). Often times members paths would cross and they would stop and compare karts before returning to looting (that’s being a frugal shopper).

When it was all done there were five carts full of varying presents for teens to be donated, and the club was not disappointed (the look on the cashiers face was priceless). Luckily they were able to get a lane just for them to ring up their purchases. There were wall-to-wall smiles on the members’ faces as they talked about their shopping adventure and the feeling of doing good that everyone felt. One member said it was like getting a cosmic karma reload. If that is the case then their karma will be good for a while. Happy holidays.

The Leather Uniform Club of Las Vegas is a pansexual organization of men and women dedicated to helping and uniting the community of Las Vegas through social and educational events and activities.
